The Sunday article on Kern's P-cards ("Despite risks, county credit cards appear an effective tool for purchases," Nov. 26) was informative. The purchasing of various small items via this procedure can be efficient and cost effective.

However, it disturbs me that there are so many purchases made from Amazon and other large establishments. I am certain that many of the needed items could have been procured in a timely manner from local stores. Employee convenience shouldn't be a criterion in the decision. Local taxes should be spent locally when possible.
