Maybe we should also blame Obama for gravity

The writer of a Nov. 2 letter, "Swine flu scourge is Obama's fault," claims that "Bush warned us 18 months ago about the H1N1 flu and took steps to ensure we would have enough vaccine."

If you Google "H1N1" you will see that the current H1N1 pandemic was first identified in Mexico in April of this year, less than six months ago, and after Bush left office. It took another month to verify that this was indeed a worldwide pandemic.

The World Health Organization has named this the Pandemic H1N1/09 virus. This virus is different from all previous H1N1 flu viruses and previous H1N1 vaccines are ineffective against it. It is illegal to market any new vaccine before thoroughly testing it for safety and efficacy.

Five months to develop, test and manufacture a vaccine is remarkably fast.
