It's official: Tour of California to roll through Bakersfield in 2010

Local cycling fans can look forward to a little excitement in 2010 when the Amgen Tour of California will make a stop in Bakersfield.
According to a press release put out this morning, the fifth stage of the race will start in Visalia and end in Bakersfield on May 20. Bakersfield is one of 16 cities in the state to include a stop.
The Tour of California started in 2006 and has routinely been a stage for some of cycling's biggest names, including seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and familiar riders like Andy Schleck (fourth in the Tour de France last year), Levi Leipheimer (who has won the past three Tours of California), Franco Pellizotti (third in the Tour de France last year) and David Zabriskie.
According to the release, the tour stops will include:
Stage 1: Sunday, May 16 - Nevada City to Sacramento
Stage 2: Monday, May 17 - Davis to Santa Rosa
Stage 3: Tuesday, May 18 - San Francisco to Santa Cruz
Stage 4: Wednesday, May 19 - San Jose to Modesto
Stage 5: Thursday, May 20 - Visalia to Bakersfield
Stage 6: Friday, May 21 - Pasadena to Big Bear Lake
Stage 7: Saturday, May 22 - Los Angeles (individual time trial)
Stage 8: Sunday, May 23 - Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village/Agoura Hills
