Two men were arrested in connection with a carjacking on Sunday.

The Bakersfield Police Department said that at around 5:12 p.m., officers responded to Belle Terrace Park, 1101 E. Belle Terrace, after getting reports of a carjacking. The department said two armed men approached the victim, one of which fired at him. The bullet missed and hit the driver’s seat.

The suspects left with the vehicle, which was found later that day at a residence in the 400 block of Lake Street, police said.

Jose Alvarez, 27, and 21-year-old Jose Padilla, both from Bakersfield, were found and arrested on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and gang-related charges. They were both booked into the Kern County Jail.
