Foothill recovered four Highland fumbles on the way to a 21-7 Southeast Yosemite League victory Friday over the Scots.
After a first-quarter fumble of its own, Foothill got things going when Dylan Hutton recovered a fumble on Highland's 45-yard-line. On the ensuing play, Denzel Givens sprung free for the first score of the game.
"We've been waiting for him to pop one all year," said Foothill coach Mike Gregg. "He's been a shoestring away from popping one about seven times this year and tonight he finally popped some."
Givens finished with 190 yards on 12 rushes with two touchdowns, including a 63-yarder in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
Highland got on the board after Foothill's Jason Martin fumbled with 5:34 left in the second quarter, setting up a 48-yard touchdown pass from Jamie Salazar to Alan Roy.
Coming out of the half, Foothill's defense recorded three straight stops for losses, forcing a punt. Two plays later, Fernando Leos escaped a couple of Scots defenders for a 29-yard touchdown run to take the lead.
Penalties and fumbles hurt Highland. Salazar completed a 38-yard pass Alan Roy to Foothill's 22-yard line, but the drive stalled after a fumbled snap led to a 14-yard loss.
