Eight Kern County football stars got wider recognition from Cal Hi Sports' All-State teams last week.
Frontier punter Matt Darr, who signed to play at Fresno State, was the second-team all-state punter, and Bakersfield High senior Craig McMahon was a third-team kicker.
Centennial junior Cody Kessler was the first-team quarterback on the Underclass all-state team.
Kessler, who led the Golden Hawks to the Division I section championship game, was The Californian's Player of the Year and already has scholarship offers from Fresno State and New Mexico State with more expected.
Liberty's Rane Cravens was a first-team selection on the Underclass team even though he's a senior. He set the section record with 23 sacks last fall.
Cravens' linemate, defensive tackle Cody Temple, was a second-team Underclass selection. Temple, a 6-3, 285-pound junior, had five sacks last season. Liberty coach Tony Mills said Friday that Temple received his first scholarship offer this week, from Washington State.
Oregon-bound Drew Howell of Tehachapi was a second-team linebacker on the Medium Schools all-state team (he'll long-snap for the Ducks), and Taft seniors Buddha Savaii, an offensive lineman, and running back Cody Shirreffs, were Small Schools first-team picks.
