Coach of the Year: Adam Setser, Ridgeview
A month after the cross country season has ended, it still doesn't seem like Ridgeview's accomplishments have sunk in to coach Adam Setser.
Southwest Yosemite League championships for both schools. An undefeated year against local competition and a Division III Central Section title for the girls. A state qualifier for the boys.
And now, The Californian'sCoach of the Year award for both boys and girls -- the first time one coach has won for both sports since North's Darin Sundgren in 1998.
"I still feel like I'm so green as a coach," said Setser, who ran at Foothill. "And this year has been such a great year, I feel blessed to be in this position and have my name put up there with my mentor Ted Oliver and Terry Lewis and Randy Jones and Jim White."
For Setser's part, he combed the halls at Ridgeview and pieced together a young team that had more than enough talent and motivation to make him look good.
"It just really seemed like the pieces were coming together," Setser said. "They were getting to where they were growing up a little bit and wanting to work towards something special."
