If you look at all of the offensive systems in Kern County, you could not find two more different than East and North. Friday night's 28-20 victory for North at home was a perfect example.

In the first half East rode the capable arm of Joe Pearson. Pearson had two touchdown passes in the half including a 43-yard strike to Malachi Jackson as the Blades (3-7, 3-3 SEYL) took a 13-0 lead into the half.

Meanwhile, the Stars never abandonded their run game. After East's Ryan Salinas took the second half kickoff back 85 yards for a touchdown, North responded with 28 unanswered points. In a span of just 18 seconds, David Maclel ran for a 12 yard touchdown for the Stars, recovered the ensuing onside kick, and Nathan Vlach ran for a 30 yard TD to pull North to within six points. Nathan Tsosie ran the ball 17 times for 99 yards and 2 touchdowns for North in his first game after being called up to the varsity level. Vlach also had a big night for North, with 89 yards on 12 attempts and 2 TDs as well. The Stars (2-8, 0-6 SWYL) ran for 311 yards.

East had a chance at the end but a pass by Pearson was picked off to seal the game for North, ending an 8-game losing skid
