The Bakersfield Northwest 11 year old All-Starts went 4-0 to win the Umpires Classic in Fresno California on June 19th and 20th. Saturdays games we were 3-2 and 12-1. In bracket play on Sunday, we were 5-1 and in the Championship game we were 7-0. The team is coached by Carl Cruz, Patrick Subia and Kip Temple. The players are Izzak Olijnik, Zachary Bushling, Cade Temple, Elijah Hill, Charley Baldwin, Reese Males, Michael Rafferty, Samuel Subia, Scott Cruz, Daniel Papasergia and Johnny Schacher.
Bakersfield Bustos Elite took first place in the "Bring on the Heat" tournament in Madera on Memorial Day. The finished 4-1, winning the championship 8-7 in three extra innings.

Bakersfield United Sports Association's Unsigned Senior's Team won the HAX Summer Jam tournament this weekend in Los Angeles.
Team members: Matthew Bush (Garces), Chris Dixon (Garces), Chad Clark (Ridgeview), Chris Brown (Golden Valley), Tim Billingsley (BHS), Neru Henderson (Independence), Torrie Green (Golden Valley) and Kenny Gaddy (Independence). The team was coached by DJ Faiella and Kevin Bush.
Bakersfield United Sports Association's Varsity All-Star team defeated Team Superstars of Visalia at the Team Superstars Shootout at Clovis-Buchanan High. The team won all four games over the two-day event, defeating B3 Elite, SVC Lightning and CV Blaze Elite.
Team members: Matthew Bush (Garces), Chris Dixon (Garces), Sammy Marcus (Liberty), Chris Brown (Golden Valley), Eddie Leyva (Cesar Chavez), Tim Billingsley (BHS), Neru Henderson (Independence), Torrie Green (Golden Valley), Lakendrick Ellis (Golden Valley) and Paul Sim (Cesar Chavez). The team was coached by KC Walker and Carlos Ortiz.
Local Special Olympics athletes competed June 11-13 in the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games Championship in Long Beach. Unified Partner Ray Gonzales and athlete Austin Higgins, pictured abover with Olympic champion Rafer Johnson, received the gold medal in golfing. Elijah Barragon, TJ Battistioni, David Castillo, Brendan De Carteret, Travis Henneberry, Quincy Mitchell, Anthony Nisperos, Ericka Perigo, Glenn Priest, Earl Webster and Ron Wehunt, under the coaching of Dr. Teri Vieth, Richard Dickinson and Andrew Pulido received the silver medal. The Taft bocce team of Andrea Craemer, Jemma Gladding, Chole Hughes, and Mark Smithwick, under the coaching of Jeannette Davis and Brooke Squires received the bronze medal.
The Bakersfield Titans 12U baseball team finished 26th after going 5-2 in a tournament at Cooperstown (N.Y.) Dreams Park. The week event included 104 teams from around the United States. The Bakersfield Northwest 8u All-Stars won the district championships in San Luis Obispo, with victories over the Northwest "B" All-Star team, 10-0, Hanford 12-2, Five Cities 13-0, and Tulare 24-2 in the title game. Brent Vasquez hit a 3-run home run in the final game. The team next plays in the state tournament, July 13-19 in Pismo Beach.
