Trenton Sparks.JPG Trenton Sparks, 7, has been racing since he was about 4. He started racing quads and motorcycles and was able to accomplish five championships. He got into racing quarter midgets in February. He has been racing all of his home track events at in Madera (Goodtimes Club) as well as the Ca Monza series, throughout Northern California. At this year's 2010 Dirt Grand Grand Nationals in Rio Linda, with competitors from all over the country, Sparks raced in the Junior Honda and Junior Stock classes. He won the A main event in the Junior Stock class, having started in the 5th position and working his way up for the national championship win. In the Jr Honda class, he had to race up from the C main, making it all the way to the A main, where he finished 4th.

Mandatory Credit: Ray Kasprowicz-WWW.ULTRAVISTA.COM Raul Rodriguez of Bakersfield improved his MuayThai record to 6-0 Aug. 28 with a unanimous decision over veteran William Sriyapai (27-8) before 3,500 at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nev. Muay Thai is a form of kick boxing that emphasizes knees and elbows. Sriyapai, who is also a kickboxer, recently was inducted into Masters Hall of Fame. Rodriguez knocked Sriyapai down in the fourth round. Because it was structured as an elimination bout, Rodriguez will get a chance at a WBC MuayThai Super Welterweight US National Title on Dec. 11 at the Las Vegas Hilton, WCK Muaythai show. His opponent, MuayThai veteran Baxter Humby, is the current super welterweight champion. Before the title fight, Rodriguez will represent the USA in the USA-vs.-China MuayThai Championship on Nov. 13 at Harrah's Las Vegas, also a WCK MuayThai production.
Bakersfield Bandits.JPG The Bakersfield Bandits 15U baseball team won its six-team division in the Aug. 28-29 Madera Back to School Tournament at Madera High School. The Bandits went 3-1, winning by scores of 10-0, 9-4 and 10-2, with an 8-7 loss. The team: Ryan Dauterive, Parker Pilney, Clayton Fowler, Josh Schultz, Austin Hooten, Gabe Schmit, Andrew Tibbitts, Justin Gill, Allan Winans, Clayton Smith, Josh Schultz, Logan Taylor, Jake Riess and Konrad Kuntz.

Chino Hills labor day.JPG Bakersfield Bullets won the Chino Hills Labor Day Tournament: Day 1 they lost game 1 to West Hills Heat 11-3, Game 2 they won vs Norwalk Mambas 13-6, that put them at the 3rd seed for Day 2, they faced the #2 seed Chino Hills Storm with a come back win of 11-10, then they faced the #1 seed West Hills Heat again for the championship, they played an amazing game to come back and win 20-12. Upward Sports is launching its first basketball and cheerleading league in Tehachapi this fall. Upward Sports is the nation's largest Christian sports program for children ages 4 years old through fourth grade. It emphasizes sportsmanship and good healthy competition.
