UC Riverside softball player Marissa Alvidrez, a Liberty High graduate, earned the Big West Conference Player of the Week award thanks to a big offensive showing in a busy week.

Alvidrez, a sophomore, had some impressive showings during the nine-game schedule last week. She opened things up with three hits, two RBIs, two runs and two doubles in a doubleheader sweep of Eastern Michigan. Including in those results was a solo homer to provide the only run in UCR's 1-0 win.

Her time in El Paso, Texas over the weekend was highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort with a solo homer against Georgetown and a 4-for-5 outing with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored in the extra-inning win over Binghamton. Her three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh of that game sent it to extra frames.

For the week, Alvidrez hit .517 (15-29) with three home runs, seven RBIs, five runs, five doubles and three walks.
