Medina rips, runs Tigers to 3-way tie

WASCO--Quentin Cheatham scored on a pair of clutch second-quarter, fourth-down touchdown runs, and Rene Medina had a big momentum shifting 97-yard fumble return for a touchdown as Wasco upended Tehachapi 27-21 on Friday night, creating a logjam at the top the South Sequoia League standings.
The victory lifted Wasco (7-2 overall, 3-1 SSL) into a three-way tie atop the SSL with Tehachapi (7-2, 3-1) and Taft (7-2, 3-1).
The Tigers trailed 21-20 at the half.
Medina's heroics came midway through the fourth quarter, with the Warriors driving deep in Wasco territory. Tehachapi attempted a run up the gut and Medina alertly stripped the ball and rumbled 97 yards untouched to the opposite end zone.
Cheatham paced the Tiger offense with 166 yards on 32 carries and two touchdowns, while Jacob Salinas had 67 yards on 16 attempts and a score.
Jesse Olofson led the Warriors offense with 210 yards on 26 carries, scoring twice in the first half. Max Clark provided a spark on Tehachapi's special teams with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown midway through the second quarter.
