Foothill coach Mike Gregg informed the Central Section office and told his players that they would not be heading to the playoffs without a victory at Golden Valley on Friday night.

Running back Denzel Givens took Gregg's promise seriously, rushing for 89 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns, to help lift Foothill to a 20-10 victory over the Bulldogs.

"We had a long season; we had a lot of adversity on our team this year," said Gregg, "We basically told the players that we wanted to end the season on a win, and if we did we would go to the playoffs."

Givens iced the game when he capped a 16-play drive by rumbling into the end zone from 2 yards for his second touchdown of the game, giving the Trojans a 10-point lead with 2:11 remaining.

Foothill (3-7, 2-4 SEYL) struck first on an 11-yard touchdown run by Denzel Givens in the first.

The Bulldogs' next drive stalled out, but Bryan Moran managed to get Golden Valley (3-7, 1-5 SEYL) on the board when he booted a 27-yard field goal with 2:57 left in the second.

The Trojans answered on the ensuing drive as sophomore tailback Billy Villages sprinted 66-yards into the end zone, giving the Trojans a 13-3 lead heading into the half.

Golden Valley narrowed the margin to three late in the third when quarterback Darrick Martin tossed a bullet over the middle to Emery Palacio, who cut up the middle and rocketed 55-yards into the end zone.
