Josh Legorreta threw for a pair of touchdowns and the punishing Frontier defense had seven sacks to lead the Titans to a 36-10 win against Highland in a non-league game Friday at Frontier.
DeShaunte Webber ran for 112 yards and two TDs on just 10 carries for Frontier, which overcame a few early offensive missteps to put the Scots away for good in the second half.
After the Titans missed a field goal on their opening drive and then forced a Highland punt, Legorreta connected with Ian Driskill on a 19-yard touchdown pass to stake Frontier to the early lead. But Highland's Jamie Salazar responded with a pair of long completions to Ruben Guerrero that set up a Jared Aguilar 33-yard field goal to make it 6-3.
Legorreta needed just two more plays to answer, this time on a 71-yard completion for a score to Jacob Adelman.
But just when it seemed the Titans offense might take over for good, Michael France scooped up a Webber fumble and raced into the end zone to cut the Frontier lead to 12-10. Webber immediately vindicated himself on the ensuing possession with a 82-yard TD scamper. He also added a 1-yard plunge later in the game for Frontier (7-0, 3-0 SWYL).
Legorreta finished 6-of-12 passing for 158 yards with an interception, and the Frontier defense held Highland to just 93 yards of offense -- including zero on the ground. Aaron Gallegos had three sacks, Driskill had two, and Adelman returned a fumble for a TD and had an interception for the Titans.
Salazar was 4-of-12 for 72 yards and Ruben Guerrero had 3 catches for 58 yards for Highland (2-6, 0-3 SEYL).
