Johnson, Byars lead Jam in rout

RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- Trey Johnson scored 33 points and Derrick Byars added 32 as the Bakersfield Jam beat the New Mexico Thunderbirds 127-106 Wednesday at the Santa Ana Star Center.
The Jam (23-14) shot 71 percent on its way to a 36-16 lead in the first quarter.
J.R. Giddens scored 17 in the quarter for the T-Birds (15-23), but the Jam closed the half on a 21-11 run to take a 66-48 halftime lead.
Drew Naymick added nine points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots for the Jam.
