RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- New Mexico's J.R. Giddens made a jump shot with 6.4 seconds left to send Wednesday's game into overtime and the Thunderbirds (19-27) held the Bakersfield Jam (27-18) scoreless in overtime to win 106-102.
Trey Johnson led Bakersfield (27-18) with 21 points . Derrick Byars added 17 points and Drew Naymick had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Abdulai Jalloh scored 21 for the Thunderbirds (19-27).

LOS ANGELES -- Sixth-ranked Loyola Marymount opened a 7-1 lead on the way to an 18-4 victory over Cal State Bakersfield in a Western Water Polo Association match.
Bianca Adams scored hree goals for the Roadrunners (4-20). LMU improved to 17-4.
CSUB's scheduled softball doubleheader Wednesday between CSUB and Fairfield was cancelled due to rain. The 'Runners next play Sunday in a doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton.
