Local report: Bayhawks outlast Jam in double OT

Forward Ivan Johnson scored 34 points Friday to help the Erie (Pa.) Bayhawks outlast the Bakersfield Jam 123-121 in a double-overtime thriller at the Jam Events Center.

Trey Johnson scored a season-high 48 points for the Jam (26-16) in a game that featured 13 ties and 18 lead changes. Blake Ahearn had 24 points and Tasmin Mitchell added 22 for the Bayhawks (28-15).

The Jam acquired 6-foot-9 forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum from the NBA D-League's available player pool, the team announced.

Maduabum last played for the Dodan Warriors in Nigeria, where he averaged 10.5 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 20 minutes per game. Maduabum did not play Friday against Erie.

Adult football at Garces

More than 35 Centennial, Liberty and South high school alumni will take the field in full pads as the Alumni All-Stars Saints take on the Bakersfield Falcons of the National Public Safey Football League at 3:30 p.m. today at Garces High.

Tickets are $7 at the gate.

It will be the first of three scheduled Bakersfield-area games in March for Alumni Football USA. Alumni teams from Wasco and Shafter will meet on March 25 at Wasco High School and Foothill will play East the following day at Chavez High in Delano.

BC start time changed

Today's Bakersfield College vs. Glendale baseball game time has been changed to 2 p.m. at Gerry Collis Field because of the threat of rain throughout the weekend.
