Bakersfield fell behind early and never recovered in its one and only preseason game of the season as the Reno Bighorns coasted to a 109-82 victory at the Jam Events Center. The game was not open to the public.
Jared Newson led Bakersfield with 17 points - including two highlight-reel dunks and 7-for-7 free throw shooting. Akeem Wright played very well off the bench, finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes. Stephen McDowell added 12 points, including two 3-pointers, also in relief duty.
Bakersfield native and starting Jam center Robert Swift finished with six points on 3 of 13 shooting from the field in 23 minutes.
The Jam will open the D-league regular season on the road Friday at Albuquerque.
