Jam selects swingman Ubiles with first pick

Edwin Ubiles, a 6-foot-6 guard-forward out of Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., who recently helped Puerto Rico win the men's basketball gold medal at the Pan Am Games, was the Bakersfield Jam's top choice Thursday in the NBA D-League's annual draft.
The Jam selected Ubiles with the No. 6 pick in the opening round. The Jam's other first-round draft picks were Nayal "Mac" Koshwal (6-9, 235, DePaul), with the No. 8 pick, and Mustapha Farrakhan (6-4, 181, Virginia) at No. 13.
Bakersfield had no second-round pick, but its other selections were: Justin Graham (Round 3, San Jose St., 6-4, 195); David Palmer (Round 4, N. Kentucky, 6-9, 240); Lawrence Westbrook (Round 5, Minnesota, 6-0, 193); Perry Stevenson (Round 6, Kentucky, 6-9, 207); Nick Covington (Round 7, Oklahoma City, 6-1, 205); Juma Kamara (Round 8, Portland State, 6-6, 190).
