CSUB women fifth following first round at Aztec Classic

CHULA VISTA -- Ashley Neal shot a team-best 79, helping the Cal State Bakersfield women's golf team to a fifth-place standing Monday after the first round of the Aztec Fall Classic at Salt Creek Golf Club.
The Roadrunners finished at 327 on the par-72 course. Cal State Northridge (301) leads, followed by Cal Poly (307), UC Riverside (307) and host San Diego State (317).
Idaho State (339) and CSU San Marcos (343) round out the field in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Neal is 11th heading into today's final round. Jenna Barnett is 21st at 82. Jennifer Davison and Dana Arneson each shot an 83 to tie for 22nd. Meggan Bellows (95, 39th) is also competing.
Final-round action begins at 8 a.m. today.
