College roundup: Men's soccer team hosts UCSB in opener

The regular season opening match for the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team will be tonight at 7 p.m. on the CSUB Main Soccer Field against UC Santa Barbara.
The Roadrunners had three exhibition games: a 2-0 win over Trinity Western University from Canada, a shootout loss to the Mexico Under-20 National Team and a 2-1 loss to The Master's College.
CSUB is also home Friday at 7 p.m. against UC Davis. That is part of a doubleheader, with the CSUB women facing Tennessee-Martin at 5 p.m.
After Friday, neither CSUB soccer team will have a home match until October.
Water polo camp Sept. 12
Cal State Bakersfield will host a water polo camp on Sunday, Sept. 12, that will feature members of the USA water polo Olympic team. The camp features in-water instruction on the fundamentals of water polo, including passing, shooting, team and individual defense.
The cost is $75 for ages 8-14 in the 9 a.m.-noon slot; $25 for noon-1 p.m. for introduction to water polo and $75 for high school athletes from 1-4 p.m.
