Local report: AYSO Region 73 sign-ups set for Sunday

AYSO Region 73 will be taking registration for the fall season from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at the new Bakersfield Sports Village, 9001 Ashe Rd.
The fee of $110 includes uniform, picture package and insurance. New players must bring verification of date of birth.

CSUB women's tennis
Julian Mannix earned the lone victory for the CSU Bakersfield women's tennis tem in a 6-1 loss to San Jose State at Stockdale Country Club.
After missing CSUB's season opener at UC Irvine on Jan. 18, Mannix returned to the Roadrunner lineup to deliver a thrilling, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 come-from-behind victory over San Jose State's Jessica Willett.
The showdown began with the three doubles matches, which were tightly contested until halfway through when the Spartans (1-0) pulled away and won all three by scores of 8-4.
