STOCKTON -- Stephon Carter and Tyrone White each scored 17 points as the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team held off Pacific 76-73 on Tuesday night.
The Roadrunners (11-9) led 59-42 midway through the second half after a 3-pointer by White. But the Tigers (5-12) rallied and took the lead by a point twice in the final minutes.
The Roadrunners' Donald Johnson scored inside with 49 seconds remaining to put Bakersfield in front 74-73, and Mo Hughley made two free throws with 10 seconds left after a Pacific turnover to seal the victory.
Issiah Grayson had 11 points and Johnson scored 10 for Bakersfield. Rashad Savage added eight points and 13 rebounds for the Roadrunners, who also beat Pacific 83-53 in Bakersfield on Dec. 22.
Lorenzo McCloud had 19 points and five assists to lead Pacific (5-12). Markus Duran scored 11 points, Ross Rivera scored 10 and Travis Fulton had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Tigers.
"This really says a lot about this team," CSUB coach Rod Barnes said in a press release. "They find a way to win, they want to win; this was a team effort tonight. We didn't panic when we let our 17-point lead slip away and once again we found a way to win."
Carter was 6 of 17 from the field while White was 5 of 9, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range. The Roadrunners also improved to 6-0 against the Big West, the best record against any of the 10 conferences they will face this season.
It was also the 'Runners' first win at the Spanos Center.
CSUB plays at Western Athletic Conference foe San Jose State at 7 p.m. Monday.
