CSUB roundup: Men's swimmer Huxhold wins 2 events against LMU

LOS ANGELES -- UC San Diego, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, handed CSU Bakersfield a 165-97 dual meet men's swimming loss Saturday at Loyola Marymount.
CSUB freshman Mitchell Huxhold won the 500-yard freestyle (4:38.18) and 1,000 free (9:27.21). Chris Pipes won the 100 free (45.69) and was second in the 200 free (1:44.35).
The Roadrunners also won the 400 freestyle relay when Pipes, Alex Daneke, Peter Bardessono and Mitch Wurm timed 3:07.44.
CSUB coach Chris Hansen said the Roadrunners were missing Jake Priest (injury), Jonathan Hall (flu) and Troy Neklason (back injury).
CSUB women swimmers go 1-2
FRESNO -- CSUB beat Cal State East Bay 177-83 but lost to San Diego State 189-90 and 206-87 to Fresno State in three women's swimming dual meets Saturday.
Rachel McCall won the 100 free (52.34) and was second in the 200 free (1:53.47) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.28).
McCall, Louise Westergren, Isabel Nystrom and Lily Donahue gave CSUB a second in the 400 free relay (3:37.77).
Davis runs to PR at indoor meet
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Senior sprinter Michael Davis ran a personal-record 6.79 seconds to place sixth in the 60-meter dash at Saturday's Lumberjack Invitational at Northern Arizona University.
Davis was also ninth in the 200 meters (22.27). Collin Ellis was fifth in the weight throw (52-4) and ninth in the shot (45-103/4).
The CSUB women were led by Princess Watts, Antionette Garrett, Taevionna Wilson and Alyssa Page, who placed 10th in the 4x400 relay (4:07.63). Melisa Cruz was 11th in the mile (5:55.82) and 12th in the 800 (2:41.48).
