BC stays perfect in WSC volleyball

Reisa Fessler and Brookey Holmes had 17 kills apiece to lead the Bakersfield College volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, 27-25 victory over LoS Angeles-Pierce College in a Western State Conference match Tuesday at the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
Sarah Kurfess had 29 digs for BC (11-4, 4-0 WSC). The Renegades host Santa Monica at 7 p.m. Friday.
BC ties in soccer
SANTA CLARITA -- Stevie Lewis scored from 12 yards with less than 30 seconds remaining after Glendale blocked a free kick by Aly Rosales, giving the Bakersfield College women's soccer team a 1-1 tie.
Glendale had scored in the final seconds of the first half on a penalty kick.
BC is 6-5-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the Western State Conference South. Glendale is 5-5-3 and 3-1-3.
CSUB's Williamson honored
Cal State Bakersfield senior libero Kayla Williamson has been named the NCAA Division I Volleyball Independent Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 18.
Williamson, a Stockdale High graduate, had 27 digs as CSUB nearly ended NAIA national champion Fresno Pacific's 55-match regular season winning streak, a match won by the Firebirds in five sets.
Williamson ranks seventh among all Div. I players by averaging 5.68 digs per sets.
Her 494 total digs are 89 more than any other Division I independent player. She also ranks eighth among Division I independent servers with 28 aces.
