Cold-shooting CSUB falls to New Mexico St.

LAS CRUCES. N.M. -- Hot-shooting by New Mexico State combined with cold shooting by CSU Bakersfield led to a third-straight loss for the Roadrunners on Wednesday night in college basketball.
New Mexico State (16-7) made 14 of its 20 second-half shots (70 percent) and shot 55 percent for the game on the way to a 78-57 victory on its home court.
CSUB (11-12), which shot only 38 percent (24-of-63) from the field, has lost 17 straight out-of-state games (eight this season, six last season, and the final three games of 2009-10). The team's last out-of-state win was 82-79 at Idaho State on Feb. 15, 2010.
The Roadrunners battled with the Aggies early, leading once and tying the game three times, but trailed 36-29 at the half.
Donald Johnson had 15 points and nine rebounds for CSUB, which made only three of its 17 shots from 3-point range.
Stephon Carter added 13 points for the 'Runners.
Wendell McKines led New Mexico State with a game-high 20 points, and Daniel Mullings added 16.
The Aggies rebounded the 'Runners 35-30, including 17-9 in the second half .
CSUB returns home Saturday night to host Cal Poly at 7 p.m. at the Icardo Center.
