CSUB roundup: Roadrunner women rout Seattle, 64-44

SEATTLE -- Katie Williams led four players in double figures with 19 points as the Cal State Bakersfield women's basketball team cruised to a 64-44 victory over Seattle University on Saturday night.
Tamiko Davis added 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Roadrunners (16-10). Kelley Tarver scored 13 and Amber Williams added 12.
The 'Runners built a 39-25 halftime lead and held the Redhawks (11-15) to just 19 points in the second half.
Katie Williams added seven rebounds and three steals, and Amber Williams also had three steals.
CSUB defeated Seattle 65-47 at the Icardo Center on Jan. 16.
SOFTBALL
The CSUB softball team pounded out 17 runs and 29 hits in a doubleheader split at San Jose State. CSUB (2-7) collected 16 hits in rolling to a 9-1 win in the opener.
San Jose prevailed 11-8 in nine innings in the nightcap.
Sophomore pitcher Sammy Rodriguez allowed a first-inning run in game one before shutting out San Jose on two hits the rest of the way.
The Spartans scored seven runs in the fourth inning to erase an early 4-0 CSUB lead in game two. After the 'Runners clawed their way back to take an 8-7 lead in the eight inning, San Jose tied it in the bottom of the eighth before getting a two-out, walk-off home run from Natasha Hawkins to win it in the ninth.
Karlee Rodgers and Ryane Petersen each had three hits in game one. Danielle Lyman had three hits in game two.
TRACK AND FIELD
CSUB's track and field teams combined to win 13 events at the Lee Adams Open at CSUB. The Roadrunners were victorious in eight relays and five individual events in only home meet of the season.
On the women's side, Arianna Celis ran away with the 1,600 meters, finishing in 5:17.69. The 4x100, 4x400, sprint medley and distance medley teams also picked up wins.
Capturing runner-up finishes were Brushay Wandick in the 100 (12.84), Jenah Kincaid in the 300 hurdles (49.14), and Briana Woodfox in the long jump (15 feet, 3 inches).
Men's winners were: Jose Lopez in the 5,000 (16:00.40), Alex Williams in the 110 high hurdles (17.05), Collin Ellis in the shot put (44-9) and Derek Kasselstrand in the discus (167-0). The men's team also tallied four relay victories in the 4x100, 4x400, sprint medley and the distance medley.
Second-place finishers included: Edward Lee in the 1,600 (4:31.92), Daniel Hernandez in the 300 hurdles (41.64), David Charleston in the high jump (6-2), Ellis in the discus (155-2) and Kasselstrand in the weight throw (55-1.75).
