SACRAMENTO -- A goal by Sacramento State's Blake Nunes just six minutes into the match dashed the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team's hopes of extending their season-opening win streak to nine consecutive years, when they dropped a 1-0 decision Friday to Sacramento State at the Copa de Causeway Classico.

"We had a defensive breakdown at the beginning of the game," said CSUB Head Coach Simon Tobin. "After that we had good looks and better chances to score, we just didn't convert. We did enough to win."

BC VOLLEYBALL

The Renegades opened their season with a 25-15, 25-10, 25-8 victory over Porterville College at Gil Bishop Sports Center.

Freshman Reisa Fessler had nine kills and a .692 kill percentage and no errors, sophomore Tricia McGowan had 28 assists and two aces and freshman Sarah Kurfess finished with a 76-percent passing percentage for BC, which travels to Saddleback College on Wednesday.
