A week of training camp boils down to 60 minutes of hockey for several prospective Condors tonight at Rabobank Arena.
The Condors, who beat Stockton 3-1 on Thursday night in Stockton, play host to the Thunder tonight in the final preseason game.
After that it will be decision time for Condors coach Marty Raymond, who will have to cut several players. He made one cut on Friday, releasing tryout player Alexandre Monahan.
"He needed to be a top six guy, that's his role, and we have lots of top six players," Raymond said of Monahan. "That's the way she goes. There's more to come and it's not going to be easy."
The Condors open the ECHL regular season at home against Ontario on Oct. 16. Rosters must be submitted on Wednesday.
As was the case Thursday night in Stockton both teams will dress 20 players (two more than allowed in the regulation) so Raymond and Stockton coach Matt Thomas get a good look at the bubble players.
"Everybody is getting at least one game and lots of guys are getting two," Raymond said. "I'm giving a chance to everyone. I'm looking for guys to fill certain roles and the more guys we have from Anaheim (there are 11 players assigned to the Condors by the Ducks) means fewer spots available."
Two of those Ducks -- Justin Pogge and J.P. Levassuer -- will split time in goal tonight, Raymond said. Eight other Anaheim prospects will also be in the lineup tonight.
