The Bakersfield Condors open training camp today at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center where competition for a forward position should be intense.
The Condors are expected to have 17 forwards in camp, five of those assigned to the team by the Anaheim Ducks.
"It isn't going to be easy for those kids," Condors coach Marty Raymond said of the players who will be fighting for a handful of forward slots. "I'm expecting a very competitive camp."
Among those vying for a job is veteran winger Andrew Ianiero, who was not offered a contract this year by Raymond, who did, however, invite him to camp.
Ianiero, 28, has compiled 260 points in 325 games as a Condor.
The Condors open ECHL regular season play on Oct. 16 by hosting the Ontario Reign.
