On the girls side, Emily Irvin and Sara Ramos each qualified in four events -- they're both part of the Mustangs' 200-yard medley and 200 freestyle relay teams, and Irvin qualified in the 200 individual medley and with the best time in the 100 breaststroke. Ramos had the second-best time in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

The Mustangs qualified for the finals in 26 events.

Swimmers or relay teams had to finish in the top 16 on Friday to advance to today's finals, which begin at 10:30 a.m.

Brian Collier pulled the four-event qualification for Stockdale on the boys side. He was part of the Mustangs' 200 medley relay, which had the day's best time, and the 400 freestyle relay, plus qualified in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.

Besides Irvin and Stockdale's boys medley relay, Kern County athletes who enter the finals with the best preliminary time are Halaska in the 200 IM (who was second in the 100 breaststroke), and Shafter's Jay Daniel in the 100 breaststroke.
