Jimenez lifts Blaze with 2-run homer in eighth

RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- Jorge Jimenez hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to rally the Bakersfield Blaze to an 8-7 victory over the Ranch Cucamonga Quakes on Saturday night.
Carlos Mendez went 4-for-4 with two RBIs as the Blaze overcame a five-run first inning by the Quakes.
Bakersfield connected for four doubles in the third inning to score four runs and pull within 5-4.
Blaze relievers held the Quakes to one run and three hits over the final 52/3 innings. Doug Salinas recorded the final six outs for his 12th save.
The team conclude a four-game series at 5 p.m. today.
