Blaze starter Tanner Roark earned a spot in Bakersfield’s franchise record book Saturday.
Roark pitched seven shut out innings to record his 10th win of the season. Roark finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record to set the all-time mark for winning percentage (1.000). Dave Allen had the previous best of .923, with a 12-1 mark in 1970.
The only other Bakersfield pitcher to go undefeated was current Philadelphia Phillies starter Pedro Martinez in 1991 (8-0).
Roark has won his last six straight starts. He allowed five hits and tied a season-high with 11 strikeouts.
Mauro Gomez continued to tear Cal League pitching. He went 3 for 4 with a grand slam in the fifth inning that gave the Blaze a 4-0 lead.
In the last two games, Gomez went 7 for 9 with 11 RBI and 3 home runs.
With a playoff spot in hand, the Blaze trail Modesto by one game for homefield advantage in the first round of their playoff series.
