Mark Serrano pitched eight innings of 5-hit ball and the Bakersfield Blaze scored eight runs in the first inning in a 12-1 rout of the Lake Elsinore Storm on Sunday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
The first eight Blaze hitters reached base against Lake Elsinore starting pitcher Aaron Breit, who exited without recording an out.
Breit was charged with all eight runs on seven hits.
Bakersfield collected nine hits -- eight singles -- during the inning. Andrew Means and Brodie Greene each had two singles during the frame.
Serrano (6-8) struck out 11 and walked one. He allowed a solo home run to Eddy Rodriguez of the Storm in the eighth.
Means went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Jose Gualdron hit a two-run double during Bakersfield's four-run eighth.
The Blaze has today off before starting a seven-game road trip Tuesday in Rancho Cucamonga.
