Blaze beats Mavs on error in 9th

High Desert Mavericks shorstop Leury Bonilla threw errantly to first base on a double play attempt in the ninth inning, allowing Phillip Bauer and Dayne Read to score and give the Bakersfield Blaze a 5-4 victory on Sunday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
With the bases loaded and no outs, Jordan Wideman hit a ground ball to Bonilla, who stepped on second for a force out before throwing wildly to first. The Blaze rallied from a 4-1 deficit.
Bakersfield starting pitcher Tim Crabbe struck out 11 in seven innings, allowing one earned run on three hits. Doug Salinas pitched the ninth for the win.
The Blaze and Mavericks will conclude their seasons today with a 1 p.m. game.
