JC roundup: BC golfers 3rd in opening tourney

The Bakersfield College men's golf team finished third at the season-opening Double-Eagle Invitational after Tuesday's second round at Rio Bravo Country Club.
Freshmen Jack Henneberry and Neil Bautista shot 76 and 78, respectively, to lead the Renegades. The former Centennial High pair each shot 76s Monday at Seven Oaks.
Henneberry finished at 8-over 152 and Bautista at 10-over 144 for the tournament formerly known as the Larry Carr Invitational.
College of the Canyons placed first at 739 and Santa Barbara City was second (769). BC (782) had rounds of 384 and 398.
Canyons' Derek Larson was the low medalist at 73-73--146 (4-over).
Women's tennis
VISALIA -- Kasie Beadle and Haleigh Dilbeck were double winners as Bakersfield College defeated College of the Sequoias 7-2. Beadle rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Rebecca Blackwell and Dilbeck beat Stephanie Garcia 6-1, 6-0 as the Renegades won five of six singles matches against the Giants.
Beadle teamed with Jennelle Fivecoat and Dilbeck with Aubrey Demler for doubles wins. Leah Stewart, Jackie Griffin and Kim Butler were BC's other singles winners.
The 'Gades (1-1) will play Thursday at Fresno City.
