Bakersfield College has gotten the news it was hoping for about its players injured in Saturday night's 24-9 win at College of the Canyons.
None of the injuries are expected to keep anyone from playing Saturday afternoon when the Renegades face Allan Hancock in the Golden Empire Bowl in Memorial Stadium starting at 3 p.m.
"It turned out not as bad as we first feared," said assistant coach Jack O'Brien.
The notable injuries on Saturday were:
* A sprained right ankle to cornerback Chika Madu.
* A sprained left ankle to defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford.
* A sprained ankle from a clip to defensive end Brache Hayes.
* A right knee injury to running back Ben Estill.
Estill returned after the injury, which occurred with 6:51 left in the third quarter, and rushed two times for gains of 8 and 3 yards later in the third quarter. He did not play in the fourth quarter.
Madu was on crutches at the end of the game. He and a limping Crawford left the field together after the game.
O'Brien said he saw Crawford and Hayes Monday morning and said both were fine. Estill was also fine, coaches said, and Madu should also be fine.
BC and Hancock are both 9-1, with the Renegades beating Hancock 31-24 in Santa Maria on Oct. 10. Bakersfield is seeded fourth in the eight-team playoffs and Hancock is seeded fifth.
