The Bakersfield College football team and others at BC received jackets Thursday from Clifford & Bradford Insurance, the game sponsor for Saturday's sixth annual Golden Empire Bowl.
"Wes is the best bowl game sponsor in the state, bar none," said BC athletic director Jan Stuebbe, referring to Wes Bradford, president of Clifford & Bradford Insurance.
BC and Allan Hancock, who meet in Saturday's 3 p.m. game in a battle of 9-1 squads, received 100 jackets apiece.
Bradford said about 2,000 tickets were sold on Thursday and has a goal of 10,000 to 12,000 attending the game.
"Last year, when BC was not in it, we had only 700 people," Bradford said.
Said Stuebbe: "We were not in this last year so we appreciate this even more."
Clifford & Bradford took over sponsorship of the game after the Kern County Shrine Club withdrew its sponsorship. Bradford said longtime BC coach and foundation leader Gerry Collis was the motivation behind Clifford & Bradford Insurance assuming the sponsorship.
BC coach Jeff Chudy said this game will be the "greatest athletic experience" for 95 percent of the players from BC and Allan Hancock.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children and students. Ticket booths will open and the stadium will open at 1 p.m. Saturday.
