The Bakersfield College women's golf team clinched its first conference championship Monday with an easy victory at the Western State Conference mini-tournament at the Links at RiverLakes Ranch.
The Renegades posted their lowest round in school history at 301, outdistancing second-place Santa Barbara City College (330) and Canyons (333).
Individually, BC swept second through fifth place. Katherine James shot 1-over 73 for second. She was followed by Stacie Netzer (74), Ellen Krausse (75) and Dee Ray (79).
Santa Barbara's Asaka Sim took first at even-par 72.
BC will play in the WSC championship Sunday and Monday at Olivas Links in Ventura. With the team title already secure, the only thing to be decided is the player of the year chase, where James holds a three-stroke lead over Krausse with two rounds remaining.

Cal State Bakersfield senior libero Kayla Williamson earned NCAA Division I Volleyball Independent Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 25. It was the second consecutive week and third time this season she has been honored.
Williamson, a Stockdale High graduate, played just one match last week, collecting 28 digs in a four-set match versus San Diego State. She added three assists and two aces.
Her effort moved her up to the No. 4 spot among all NCAA Division I players by averaging 5.74 digs per set. That mark tops all Division I Independent players, while her 522 total digs are 91 more than her nearest pursuer.
