Renegades stage furious rally, outslug Hancock, 15-14

SANTA MARIA -- Mike Spingola's second home run of the game -- a three-run shot in the eighth inning -- lifted the Bakersfield College baseball team to a 15-14 come-from-behind victory over Allan Hancock on Wednesday.

Spingola finished 5-for-6 with six RBIs for the Renegades (3-0), who trailed 14-7 after five innings.

BC relievers Austin Duran and Ryan Stapp combined on four scoreless innings.

Duran earned the win and Stapp struck out three in two perfect innings for his second save.

The Renegades pounded out 20 hits, including five home runs.

BC has six homers through three games, matching its season total from 2011.

Brock Allen went 4-for-5, Elijah Trail was 3-for-6 with a home run, and Isaiah Turner homered for BC.

Tyler Painton added an inside-the-park homer for BC.
