College roundup: BC women's soccer eliminated from playoffs

SAN BERNARDINO Terryn Soelberg had a goal and Aly Rosales had the assist but No. 14 Bakersfield College lost 3-1 to No. 3 San Bernardino Valley in the first round of the Southern California playoffs Saturday.
The Renegades (11-8-2) took a 0-0 tie into the half but were unable to hold off San Bernardino in the second half.
Men's basketball
Bobby Fisher scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the first half as the Bakersfield College men's basketball team cruised to a 85-73 victory over Merritt College in the consolation championship game of the Fresno City Tournament.
Skyler Vaden finished with 19 points, and Nick Markovich and Chase Adams added 11 each.
The Renegades (4-2) host Allan Hancock 7 p.m. Friday in the first game of the Bakersfield tournament.
Women's basketball
Jullianne Thomas had 17 points to lead Bakersfield College to a 77-65 victory over Reedley College at home Saturday. The Renegades (3-1) trailed 32-30 going into the half but shot 39 of 48 from the free-throw line on the night and came away with the victory.
Cross country
Bakersfield College's Robert Quintero placed 28th at the JC state championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Quintero finished the four-mile course in 20 minutes, 58 seconds, a personal best. Francisco Mejia was 104th at 21:54.
Daniel Tapia of Hartnell College in Salinas won the men's race in 20:08.
San Bernardino Valley College was the men's team winner with 67 points.
On the women's side, BC's Emnet Habebo was 136th at 21:04 on a five-kilometer course.
Nina Moore of Glendale was the women's race winner at 17:48.
Glendale won the women's team competition, scoring 43 points.
