Local report: 'Gades fall at Valley

VALLEY GLEN -- Haley Huntington scored 15 points before fouling out late in the second half, but Bakersfield College fell to L.A. Valley 62-55 in Western State Conference women's basketball action Saturday.
The Renegades (10-6, 3-1 WSC) rallied from a 33-21 halftime deficit and took a one-point lead with 3:30 remaining. But the 'Gades were unable to close out the win after Huntington exited.
Vanessa Aguilar led Valley (2-1 WSC) with 25 points.
"We were not awake at all in the first half," BC coach Paula Dahl said. "We needed a wake-up call. I'm proud of how we played in the second half."
Gabi Morales had 15 rebounds for BC, which finished 6-of-13 from the free-throw line. Valley was 15-for-17.
BC will play at Citrus College at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
NBA D-League
Trey Gilder had 26 points and 11 rebounds, finishing 13-of-18 shooting from the field to lead the Sioux Falls Skyforce to a 114-107 victory over the Bakersfield Jam at the Jam Events Center.
Renaldo Major led Bakersfield (11-9) with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Juan Pattillo added 18.
The Skyforce shot 52-percent from the field, including 7-of-15 from 3-point range. Casey Mitchell finished with five 3-pointers and 22 points.
The Jam trailed 64-55 at the half, but chipped away at the lead much of the second half, eventually pulling to within 111-107 on two free throws by Osiris Eldridge with 31.4 seconds to play.
But Sioux Falls (6-15) closed the game sinking 3-of-4 free throws.
Jeremy Wise had 15 points and six assists, David Palmer had 14 points and six rebounds and Eldridge finished with 11 for Bakersfield.
The Jam doesn't play again until Friday when it hosts the Los Angeles D-Fenders at 7 p.m. in the Jam Events Center.
BC men's basketball
VALLEY GLEN -- The Renegades dug themselves a big hole in the first half and never recovered in a 64-53 loss to L.A. Valley.
BC (7-12, 1-3 WSC), which next plays at Citrus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, trailed 37-17 at the half.
Foothill High graduate Conroy Lester had a team-high 14 points, and Antonio Johnson added 10 for the Renegades.
