College roundup: Fisher leads BC into COS tourney final

VISALIA Bobby Fisher finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Bakersfield College men's basketball team defeated Fresno City College 76-69 in the semifinals of the College of the Sequoias Tournament.

Chase Adams also contributed 15 points and Stevie Howard had 4 steals for the Renegades (10-2). With the win Bakersfield College advances to the finals today at 4 p.m.

JC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Dominique Scott scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Pasadena City College past Bakersfield College 82-60 in a non-conference game in Pasadena.

Scott scored 18 of her points in the first half for the Lancers (11-2).

The Renegades (4-6) were led by Alexi Smith, who scored 22 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Kaileigh Christensen added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

SWIMMING

Jake Priest, Keenan Natyzak and Matt Parsonage helped the Cal State Bakersfield men's swim team dominate four-time defending NAIA National Champion Cal Baptist in a 170-119 win at Loyola Marymount.

Priest won the 200 fly (1:54.50), 200 breast (2:11.65) and the 200 IM (1:56.01). Natyzak won the 200 free (1:41.48) and 500 free (4:40.86). Parsonage won the 100 breast (58.88) and 50 free (21.58).

The CSUB women's swim team split a pair of dual competitions, claiming a 172-127 win over Cal Baptist and dropping a 166-121 score to host Loyola Marymount.

Stephanie Donnelly won the 100 back (1:00.98), Rachel McCall took first in the 100 breast (1:06.69) and Rachel Holm won the 200 breast.

CSUB Hannah Yoder took first in the one-meter event and Victoria Kreutz won the three-meter event held at UCLA.
