An attorney entered not guilty pleas on behalf of a local nurse Thursday on charges she and her then-boyfriend engaged in sex acts with a minor 10 years ago.

An arrest affidavit filed in the case, however, says Tauney Lee Van Sickle, 31, admitted to police that she posed nude with the minor for a "sex blog," and sexual contact occurred between the two.

The minor, now 20, said she was 11 at the time the incidents occurred, according to the affidavit. She told police Van Sickle engaged in sex acts with her five times over a six-month period.

Kyle J. Humphrey, Van Sickle's attorney, said he hasn't yet received the reports in the case. He said he didn't know where she was employed.

Asked how Van Sickle is holding up since her arrest Tuesday, he said, "We are such a savage people. We've forgotten how horrible it is to be locked up for a single day and deprived of our freedom."

At the time of the alleged crimes, Van Sickle was dating Frank Mark Sanchez, 53, who was arrested earlier this month and is being held on $1 million bail on multiple child sex abuse charges in connection with the alleged crimes regarding Van Sickle and others that occurred with the same minor years earlier.

Sanchez, who sometimes goes by the last name "Kruz," was the owner of the downtown cocktail lounge the Green Room. The lounge closed following his arrest.

According to court documents filed after Sanchez's arrest, the alleged victim went to police headquarters Aug. 28 with her mother and told police Sanchez began abusing her when she was 5 years old.

The woman told police she didn't come forward earlier because she had frequent contact with Sanchez, who had dated her mother and continued to babysit her even after the two broke up. Police said she cried and was otherwise visibly emotional as she described the alleged abuse.

From the ages of 5 to 7, the woman told police, Sanchez engaged in sex acts with her at least once a week. Sometimes he photographed or filmed her during the acts, she said. She said she believes he posted nude images of her online.

The woman said she was also forced to engage in a three-way sex act with Sanchez and a woman, unnamed in the documents, whom he was dating.

Police have said that woman is Van Sickle.

Police recorded two phone calls with Sanchez, one made by the 20-year-old's mother, the other by the woman herself. In both calls, Sanchez admitted to engaging in sex acts with the 20-year-old when she was a minor, the documents said.

Neither the 20-year-old nor her mother are named in the documents, and The Californian usually does not identify victims of sex crimes.

In the call with the victim's mother, Sanchez said the sex acts occurred during a "dark time" of his life, the documents said.

"Frank Sanchez said there is nothing he can say to make it better and it's been haunting him for a while, a long while," the documents said.

When Sanchez spoke with the 20-year-old, he said he didn't understand why he committed those acts, according to the documents. He apologized and said he probably needs professional help.

"I can't even imagine how you feel, I can't, I mean, I can imagine it's really, really bad," the documents said he told her.

He said he had been doing some "soul searching" since seeing her at his father's funeral last year, the documents said.

Police arrested Sanchez Dec. 7 at his apartment downtown. He admitted to having sex with the woman when she was a minor, the documents said. He also told police there were no other victims.

Asked about any photos or video of the alleged victim, Sanchez said he destroyed them, the documents said.

Van Sickle is next due in court Jan. 10, and Sanchez on Feb. 14. Van Sickle is being held on $100,000 bail.
