Wendy Reed, the Democratic candidate for the 23rd Congressional District seat, will be the guest on today’s edition of “Off the Press.”

“Off the Press” is The Californian’s political talk show and is hosted by Californian government reporter James Burger, former Bakersfield City Councilman Russell Johnson and former Assemblywoman Nicole Parra. It will air from 2 to 3 p.m. today on Bakersfield.com and on The Californian’s Facebook page.

Reed is running against House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy in a deeply Republican district. A Reed win is not seen as likely by political observers.

She is described on her website as the part-time administrator of a local land conservancy group near her Quartz Hill home near Lancaster in Los Angeles County.
