The California College Republicans have come up with their New Year’s Resolutions for 2018 and look what tops the list: bring in conservative firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos for a succession of speaking engagements.

That goal, listed by the statewide organization this week as its top priority, comes just months after Cal State Bakersfield’s College Republicans group made tentative plans to have the former Breitbart editor speak at the Icardo Center.

The local College Republicans group ultimately dropped the idea when university officials said they could not charge for tickets to cover Yiannopoulos’ $20,000 speaking fee.

The California College Republicans called its planned Club Speakers Tour “an important tool to push the conservative message on college campuses and to grow the CCR clubs.”

They described Yiannopoulos as an in-demand speaker among young Republicans, adding that his “highly successful” speech at CSU Fullerton fueled the College Republicans' plans to bring him back to California.

“Milo is a great speaker to have on college campuses because not only is he entertaining and popular, his speeches always have a great message regarding conservative values that he can deliver in a fun, easy way to understand,” said Ariana Rowlands, the CCR chairwoman.

No word yet on whether the planned Club Speakers Tour includes a stop in Bakersfield.
