Burglary bust leads to cache of stolen goods

A burglary arrest near Valley Plaza on Wednesday led police to guns, drugs and stolen property.
Police received a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 2300 block of Ming Avenue and saw two men walking away from the area. They were about to get in a vehicle when they saw police and the driver of the vehicle sped off while the two suspects ran away.
The suspects, Deontry Thomas, 22, and Albert King, 18, were caught and so was the driver of the vehicle, police said. Thomas and King were booked on suspicion of burglary and gang participation and the driver was interviewed but had not yet been arrested.
Jewelry taken during the burglary was recovered.
The investigation eventually led detectives to La Reyna Michoacana at 1310 Chamberlain Ave., police said. As detectives began speaking with employees, three teens walked in and tried to sell packaged cell phones.
The phones were later found to have been stolen from a cell phone kiosk in Valley Plaza, police said. Ivan Leon Gailes, 18, and two male juveniles, one 15, the other 17, were arrested.
A search warrant was then obtained for La Reyna Michoacana and the owner’s residence, vehicle and a cell phone kiosk he owns in the Mercada Latino shopping center, police said. Officers searched those places and found 2.5 kilos of cocaine, two shotguns and a large amount of suspected stolen property including more than 350 packaged cell phones, five laptop computers, two desktop computers, seven flat screen televisions and two video game systems with numerous games.
The business owner, Angel Sullivan, 36, of Bakersfield, was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property and gun and drug violations, police said.
