A Proposition 8 protester who was punched and kicked by Ken Mettler Friday has requested that the Bakersfield Police Department pursue charges against the Kern High School District trustee, Sgt. Greg Terry said.
Protester Rob Badewitz originally said in a police report that he did not want charges filed in the case.
On Tuesday, he said he has reconsidered.
The police are investigating and could submit the case to the District Attorney’s office for possible charges by the end of the week.
Mettler has said he acted in self-defense while retrieving some Yes on Proposition 8 signs at California Avenue and Stockdale Highway.
