Community Action Partnership Food Bank needs volunteers to help with its "Stuff the Bus" food drive, scheduled for Feb. 19. Volunteers are needed to help between 4:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the Sears parking lot, Ming Avenue and Wible Road, to collect, unload and package donations. Hours are flexible and volunteers are welcome to work one hour or more. Call Anna Hart, 398-4520, to sign up.
The food bank also would also like to enlist at least three volunteers per day, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon, to help with its intake process. Duties include sorting through paperwork and finding client referral forms, taking client demographic information and finding client case numbers on its database. Demographic information will be collected by the volunteers who will ask clients a short series of questions.
Bilingual English/Spanish ability would be appreciated since many of the clients speak Spanish only. Volunteer for one or more days per week by calling Hart at the number above.
Optimal Hospice Care will hold new volunteer orientation in Tehachapi at the Mountain Bible Church Side Building, 630 Maple St., on Friday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call Karen, 888-597-6115, to reserve a spot.
Kern Adult Literacy Council will be training tutor volunteers from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, at the council office, 331 18th St. Tutors need to be fluent in English and have a desire to help. Tutoring sites are located throughout Kern County, so volunteers may not have to travel far to assist. You are asked to donate three hours a week, at your convenience, to help a student. Reach 4 Greatness Mentoring Program is looking for volunteers to mentor youths up to 18 years old, one-on-one or in a group; tutor, or help young people follow a career exploration resource program at local schools or at its office, 1225 California Ave.

Golden Empire Youth Tackle Football and Cheer is looking for volunteer youth tackle football and cheer coaches for children 7 through 14 years old for the 2010 football season.
