TERRI MAYS has joined First American Title Co.’s Kern County operation, where she is to be responsible for business development and client relations. Mays has more than 20 years of experience in the local title insurance and escrow industry. The Bakersfield native has earned the California Escrow Association’s Certified Senior Escrow Officer designation. She also has state licenses to sell real estate, property and casualty insurance, and life and health policies.

Community Action Partnership of Kern has added two new members to its board of directors: JOHN A. RITCHIE and SALVADOR MELENDEZ.

Ritchie is vice president of commercial development at Paramount Farming Co. He devotes time to the Coalition for Sustainable Economic Growth and the Rio Bravo Greeley Educational Foundation. He is to serve under the private sector on CAPK’s tri-partite board of directors.

Melendez, chairman of the 2010 Head Start Policy Council, is to serve in that capacity on

CAPK’s board of directors. He is a journeyman carpenter and youth football coach.
Others on CAPK’s 2010 board are: FRED PLANE, president, JIM CAMP, vice president, DON BYNUM, treasurer, JOSE BENAVIDES, CRAIG HENDERSON, GILBERT ALANIZ, SANDRA FLOREZ, JOSE GONZALEZ JR., MIKE MAGGARD, TONY MARTINEZ, YOLANDA OCHOA, WARREN PETERSON and CHARLIE RODRIGUEZ.

MARY HELEN BARRO has been selected to lead development of the Latino Program at Terrio Therapy-Fitness Inc. Barro has more than 25 years of experience in broadcasting, primarily in Spanish-language media. She has provided consulting services to private corporations, government agencies and public service organizations, with an emphasis in reaching out to diverse groups of people.

JOHN JUNG has earned Reinke Manufacturing Inc.’s Proven Leaders in Unmatched Service Certified Technician Award. Jung is with Rain for Rent in Bakersfield. The PLUS program consists of technical service-training classes and tests. Nebraska-based Reinke makes center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems.

DEBBIE MORENO has been elected 2010-11 chairwoman of the Western Association of Chamber Executives. Moreno is president and CEO of the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce. The executives association is intended to promote the professional development of chamber of commerce executives; it has about 800 members in 14 western states. Moreno has been with the Bakersfield chamber for 20 years, and served as vice president of operations before becoming the top executive in 2004.

JOSEPH S. “JOEY” PEARL has joined the Bakersfield law firm of Chain Cohn Stiles as an estate planning attorney. Pearl is also expected to concentrate on elder law/Medi-Cal planning and probate and trust administration. The Bakersfield native has also handled issues in the areas of taxation, corporate law, real estate, intellectual property, secured transactions and bankruptcy. He has been admitted to practice law in California and Nevada, and is a member of the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California and Eastern District of California. A graduate of Garces Memorial High, Pearl earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He went on to earn his law degree at Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006, and his master of laws in taxation in 2007.

JUAN DENIZ has joined Coldwell Banker, Preferred Realtors in its northwest office on Coffee Road. He was raised in Shafter and attended Bakersfield College and Cal State Bakersfield, focusing on business administration. He entered the field of real estate in 2005, and is bilingual.

CAROL HATTON has earned the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Qualified Dementia Care Specialist designation. Hatton is a member of Dementia Care Professionals of America, a branch of the foundation. She works at Continuum Senior Care Management Inc., a geriatric care management company that has served the Bakersfield area since 1995. Hatton is nationally certified as a care manager and has a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration.

ED KREISER has won two Gold Seal print corners and one print merit at a Professional Photographers of America print judging event in Nashville, Tenn. He also won two print merits and two Gold Seal print corners at a recent Professional Photographers of California judging event in Pasadena. Kreiser owns Ed Kreiser Photographer; he specializes in aerial and commercial photography.
